October; the first week of this month has just passed, and rather eventfully I shall add. The draught that has been my vacation-less life since April has finally been ended... somewhat. Interestingly enough, it involved a rekindling of a place and moment that was experienced just around the same time last year...
What am I talking about? I called it:
Project Ulu Yam 2007!
Yes, I went on another trip to Ulu Yam this year. Partially the same crowd, the exact same spot, roughly the same food, but with differences in the overall experience nevertheless... and that's in a good way ;) I shall reserve the details for a future post because I have yet to grab the photo's that deserve to go along with the trip information, but I will mark down the stuff that resulted with this whole trip.
As can be witnessed from my previous post, I was bored. I even wrote that post with minimal constructed sentences. Yup, I was indeed bored. I also got into thinking... I have quite a pile of annual leaves waiting to be used. I'm also a bit burnt out from work. A + B = Use the leaves! So, the eureka moment was when I decided to make this week a 4-day work week... perhaps a few weeks in a row, if I could.
Then, there were this random thought whilst I was chatting with my Klang buddy...
Me: Lets take the friday OFF!
Him: ...and do what?
Me: Go... er... Ulu Yam! For picnic and play water.
Him: RIGHT...
Him: You plan it well enough, I might think about it...
So, there I was, inspired to go on a trip on a spur of the moment and simultaneously facing a noticeable amount of scepticism on pulling it off successfully.
Monday - First thing I did (literally) after arriving at work was to apply for leave. Whatever it is that I end up doing on Friday, it sure won't involve me being anywhere near office premises =Þ I was gonna get my day off whether or not anyone liked it, hehe. Right after that came the next item in the to-do list...
Sending out invitations!
Let's Go!
By lunch, I had enlisted 4 friends who were eager on the trip idea. My favourite phrase for the day (or week!?) was 'Let's Go!'. It caught on pretty well. By the end of the day, I had 6 people on the confirmed list and 1 pending. (FYI, total ppl who actually went were 9, myself included). The pending person was none other than the friend who was sceptical to begin with (yes, I know you're reading this eventually =Þ). Thankfully, he managed to tag along... I would have had a field day rubbing it in had he not made it... oh, cruel me, hehe.
Over the next few days, planning was underway. Food, equipment, travel itinerary, etc. Everything went smooth from the planning side. By Thursday, headcount was at 9... still within the limits of my intended maximum number of 10 ppl. Never intended it to be huge... a small group of close, fun friends was all that I wanted.
And then, Friday came...
It is Sunday now, and been trying to recuperate from the fatigue of that day. By no means is that a bad thing... it just goes to show how much fun I had. True, a relaxing day would've been great, but a truly fun-filled activity day is in no ways a lesser experience... its just a different experience :)
Would I do it again? You bet~ Ulu Yam 2008 perhaps :P
Now, I just need to plan what to do in the weeks ahead. I'm thinking... Singapore?
Anyone game to join me?
