Hisashiburi da na...
Well, I've seriously been overusing that phrase the past 2 weeks. I just can't seem to be able to stop myself, what with Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children having taken up my new record for 'Most-Played-Video-in-a-Month Award'. And that says a LOT... after all Matrix was my previous chart topper and already ppl called me insane :P Weird though, since I enjoy stories with depth... I guess cool factor has its special spot in me too.
What did you ask!? You meaning to tell me you havent heard of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (man, that's a fingerload... shall use FF7AC) ?!?!??! Blasphemy~ Ok ok, its not religiously inclined to be considered a blasphemous act, but blasphemy nevertheless :P
For the uninitiated, FF7AC is a full CG feature animation that chronicles events 2 years following the ending of SquareEnix' best-seller for the PlayStation, Final Fantasy VII. The game was a joy on its own right, and the ending was open ended enough to build a sequel if they ever wanted to... However, Square decided to release a feature animation instead.
Many might be sceptical when considering how their previous feature CG film was a flop (though I actually liked it a lot). Which explains the DVD-only release this time. But I guess that alone is a good marketing strategy. It will probably be picked up by hardcore fans, and hopefully by friends of the fans who keep hearing ravings of its uber-coolness and all. For one, DO NOT watch it for the storyline coz its either too simple, or too confusing depending on who you ask. If you never played the game, don't even bother wondering about the story.
What you DO want to watch it for is the CG. The CG is a major improvement from the previous FF movie, and that's already saying a lot. What truly shines are the battle scenes. Being based on a game, its hard to make the fights just 'simple' and get away with it. So what did Square do? Make the fights UBER-cool and frantic and ... ... ... you just have to watch 'em. Sometimes bizarre, but it has amongst the most impressive fight choreography in a CG animation, if not to all types of animation. Oh, and did I mention the soundtrack is uber-cool!? Darn, I need to find a cooler term than 'uber-cool' =Þ
So you love FF7? Watch FF7AC...
So you hated FF7? Well, then you gotta watch FF7AC...
So you never heard of FF7? You MUST watch FF7AC...
Oh, you've watched FF7AC already? Stop reading and go watch it again :P
What? You never heard of the Final Fantasy series?! Er... watch FF7AC... or shoot urself :P
P.S.: Current watch count... 8 times in 12 days...
