Spicing up life

Well, the haze has its impact on everyone in the afflicted areas... I got attacked by sore throat and flu over the past week. So you could say that day-to-day activities became relatively more mundane than usual due to metabolism slowdown and sheer drowsiness from drugs (read: medication :P ).

So it came as a pleasant surprise that an old friend called up for a night out; small gathering of 3. Venue of attention was Summit. Our usual pool-spot is actual Club-7, Subang Jaya (or was it Cafe 7?!) but Summit is a change of environment. He said Summit has alternative options of entertainment if we got bored of pool. Knowing Summit myself, I have to agree.

Now, the game of pool itself was nothing to laugh about... but it sure turned out better than I anticipated. After all, it *has* been 2 months since my last game, and that's almost never a good thing :P Well, like any other thing in life, the game had to end sometime. And that's when we headed to the video arcade, which is strategically located just next door to the pool center.

Flashback: before we actually played pool, we were on a waiting list for available tables. Whilst waiting, we *did* take a peek into the arcade. Ok, maybe it was more than a peek. My fren headed straight to the ParaParaParadise (I think that's what it's called) game machine. To the uninitiated, this is one of those Dance-Dance-Revolution kind of games whereby the player is required to input specific keys at precise moments in synch with (the usual) R&B/Pop music... or whatever category those songs go into :P Anyway, he played it alone... and he seemed to have fun. My best fren and I were, being typical M'sians, relatively uninterested in actually trying it out though I must say it struck a cord of interest seeing how the other guy was enjoying himself *scratch chin*.

Back to context: So there we were, walking yet again into the arcade. The difference this time is that we ALL were pumped up to give the game a go. Hehe... I couldn't believe myself but what the heck. It was a night of oddities :P

Beyond my wildest expectations, I'd dare say that the game was far more enjoyable than it first seems. I *have* tried the 'step on the arrows on the floor' versions of these games and I hated those. This particular game uses aerial sensors to trigger inputs. Sure, it gets some getting used to but, as I was telling my friend, I trust my hand-eye coordination better than my leg-eye coordination. Two games it was, and two fun moments they were.

So would I play it again? Definitely.
Would I encourage people to try it? Of course.
Would I challenge existing pro players? In your dreams! Hahaha.

I may enjoy the game, but I ain't a dancer. Good luck even thinking that I have a chance to be more than a robot playing these games. Timing is one thing, gracefulness is an entirely different story :P

  2. on a normal day, I'd have gone with the same idea... but I guess flu has its effect on imbalancing logic. But i'm thankful, seriously. I wouldnt have experienced the fun otherwise. Try try try.

come back to Msia and lets go parapara :P
