Elevator's 101

I can't believe how hopeless some people can be when it comes to using the elevator (or lift, to the common M'sian). I mean, the basic rules of etiquette are .. well.. BASIC. Makes you wonder what all that gray matter is used for *grumble grumble*. These are what I occasionally encounter once too many times.

1. The button's lighted up. Person A and B have both pressed it. Enter Person C: Person C sees A and B press the button... C presses it again! Why!? Why!? Does it speed up the elevator or something?

2. Doors open. People walking out. Some ignorany guy forces his way in without letting ppl walk out FIRST. (Applies to many public transport services, too)

3. Doors open at a level and the elevator is full. Someone in the far back needs to walk out. The guy nearest to the console doesn't have the courtesy to hold the door open. Idiot.

4. Elevator is idle and open. Person walks in without looking around and closes the doors behind him/her.

I hate the fourth the most. It happens a lot in my office complex. Even this morning, a lady was walking barely 4 steps ahead of me. The elevator was waiting and open when she entered. To my shock, the doors shut right after she stepped in. I even caught a glimpse of her pressing the console, so she obviously wasn't even trying to open the doors *grumble grumble*

So it left 2 other ladies and me stuck for an avoidable idle few minutes. It may not be much, but it happens so frequently it ticks me off. I don't understand why some people don't have the sense to just take a look around before entering an elevator. A slight bit of courtesy goes a long way. Thankfully, my office complex has its share of saints. I've met people who actually greet you when you enter the elevator. Nothing beats a simple 'Good Morning' from a perfect stranger in the morning. Better if it was from a gorgeous lady :P

  1. waddaya expect? typical msians. I encounter them everyday while i take LRT to work. Esp when a vacant LRT stops, those back at the end of the queue will just rush to the front to enter the train. sigh..
there's once this kwai lou hit once fella's head because he tried to cut queue. And guess what, that fella didn't react because he's in the wrong.

  2. go kwai lou~ go go~ hahaha.

but honestly, i'm surprised he lived to see another day :P Hitting is a bit too much, but pointing the fact out to the person might actually be a safer approach. You neva know when someone might pull out a parang :O :P
